U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced yesterday that it had seized more than 100,000 pieces of counterfeit Fendi and Gucci handbags along with other counterfeit goods bearing
trademarks belonging to Chanel, Coach, Louis Vuitton, and others. The value of equivalent authentic goods would have been approximately $13 million. The shipment arrived at the Port of Oakland from China on February 22 with New York as its final destination. The fake goods, which were declared as blankets, were hidden among legitimate merchandise in the shipment.
